England - Yorkshire Dales to Lake District

There are numerous tombs, effigies and memorials in St Nicholas Church. The oldest seems to be the one that depicts a knight in armour holding a shield that was carved around 1250. Others are thought to be other knights of Marmion and their wives. Set into the floor at the end of the aisle is a grave slab with the name 'Thomas' dated 1483.
